You should be sure to follow these six workout performance rules when attempting to increase muscle mass.
1. Never miss a scheduled workout for any reason other than injury or illness.
2. Always maintain strict exercise form.
3. Always use spotters when doing heavy benches and squats.
4. Go to within 95% of failure on your top sets of each exercise.
5. Avoid doing forced reps on all but the final set of each movement.
6. Once you can do 5 reps without assistance on your final set of each exercise, increase the weights for that movement by 10∼20 pounds.
